German Chocolate Cookies

The taste of German Chocolate Cake in a rich, decadent cookie! 

Ingredients

Yields 24 Servings

  • 1 1/4 c. all purpose flour
  • 1/3 c. cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 stick (4 oz.) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 c. lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. Firebee Chocolate Honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 c. semisweet chocolate chips
Topping
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 4 Tbsp. (2 oz.) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 heaping cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • Firebee Chocolate Honey

Instructions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line baking sheets with parchment paper. 

Step 2

In a medium bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and Firebee Chocolate Honey with an electric mixer until well combined and smooth. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and beat until combined. 

Step 4

Add in the flour mixture slowly and then fold in the chocolate chips. 

Step 5

Drop the cookies (about 1 1/2 tbsp.) onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

Step 6

For the topping: In a small saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, egg yolk, and butter over medium heat. 

Step 7

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla, coconut, and pecans. 

Step 8

Let cool until thick enough to spread on top of the cooled cookies. 

Step 9

Drizzle with Firebee Chocolate Honey and let everything set before serving.
