Fried Goat Cheese with Elderberry Honey

Ingredients

(~24 cheese balls)

  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup panko bread crumb
  • 1 large egg
  • 11 oz goat cheese
  • 2 cups olive oil
  • 2 tbs water
  • 1 tbs fresh chives, minced
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 tbs Firebee Elderberry Honey


Step 1

Combine flour and black pepper in a small bowl. 

Step 2

In a second bowl, whisk together egg, 1/4 tsp salt, and water.


Step 3

Combine panko and remaining 1/2 tsp salt in another small bowl.

Step 4

Roll goat cheese into approximately 24 balls (about 1 tbs each.)

Step 5

Roll each goat cheese ball in flour mixture, dip in egg mixture, and dredge in panko mixture.


Step 6

Heat oil to 350̊ F in a deep saucepan over medium high heat.

Step 7

Fry goat cheese for 1-2 minutes or until golden. Remove with a slotted spoon. Place on paper towel to dry.

Step 8

Arrange goat cheese balls on a platter, drizzle with Firebee Elderberry Honey, and sprinkle with chives and red pepper.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy!
